
Threads explode. Names get mentioned. People defend cyberbullying. Others recount past experiences in painful detail. The outrage moves into the churn. And here’s the thing. Very little action follows. Am I also guilty of turning silent sparks into sediment? And do I even need social media to do that for me?

Gossip in the workplace is a great example of this.
This got me thinking. My new rule, “If it serves no purpose, why say it or repeat it?” If we are honest with ourselves, gossip is fun. Not productive.. but fun. We always like to be the first to say or the first to know something.
That is in excellent example. Watercooler-gossip erodes trust without any other benefits.
